Founded in 2013, Gandhar Food Products Pvt. Ltd. houses a Salt Refinery with the latest technology. The company is headed by Mr. Zainulabedin Ibrahim Patel, who belongs to the prestigious Royal Group. The company is engaged in Manufacturing, Marketing and Export of Triple Refined Free Flow Iodized Salt and Common Salt. The Group is into diversified businesses like Logistics and Industrial Salt.

The company's factory premises are spread over an area of 41246 Sq. Mtrs., housing and fully equipped and latest technology automated Salt Refining Plant, large godowns providing for adequate storage facilities of Raw materials, finished products etc., Resources of sufficient Power, Water, Employee's Residences and is located in proximity to National Highway, Railway and Dahej Port.

MANUFACTURING PROCESS

We are one of the leading manufacturers of “Refined Free Flow Iodized Salt” in India, operating the “Salt Refinery” of 15 TPH capacity at Village : Muler (Taluka : Vagra, Dist : Bharuch, State : Gujarat). Our brief process description is as under :

Step 1-Feeding

Harvested sea salt is fed to raw salt hopper thereby it goes to crushing mill through belt conveyor fully equipped with iron extractors hanging above it. Any other foreign impurities are removed by manual labours continuously from the running conveyor belt.

Step 2-Crushing

In crushing mill, wet milling process takes place by adding sea brine into the machine. Adhered & embedded impurities are exposed to brine media & then removed by selective rupturing.

Step 3-Refining

Crushed salt is passing through three stages of Refining :ELUTRIATION TANK, WASHING TANK & STATIC THICKENER ( these 3 stages are highlighted with Black & White in Process Flow Diagram). To achieve our ISI standards, only one stage is also enough but here, in our plant raw salt is refined for 3 times for betterment of quality. Washing media is sea brine & plain bore well water to remove soluble as well as insoluble impurities. These all Stages have enough iron extractors to meet ISI/FSSAI parameters . Salt whiteness reaches to around 88% at the end of third washing stage.

Step 4-Centrifuging

After 3rd stage of refining, salt + brine ( slurry form ) is fed to centrifuge machine where solid & liquid are separated out. Solid salt after iodization goes to dryer & liquid is recycled in process. Here we give a final wash with drinking water to remove further soluble impurities. Here , whiteness of salt reaches up to 90% We add Iodizing Agent ( Potassium Iodate ) here to get 30 PPM of iodine min. as per ISI/FSSAI/ICCIDD norms. Iodization system is equipped with dosing pump & rotameter for finer control. Here Potassium ferro cyanide ( E - 536 ) is added for modifying Crystal form so as to avoid lump formation after bagging, it’s proportion is max. 15 PPM as per ISI/FSSAI norm. Centrifuged salt is having moisture around 3.0 to 4.0 %.

Step 5-Drying

Centrifuged salt after iodization , goes to Fluid Bed Dryer to get dried. Drying is carried out by natural hot air, Finer salt below 150 micron is collected separate from the centrifuged salt & product size salt carries to gradation Section. Here we can achieve the moisture in dryer outlet up to 0.2%.

Step 6-Grading

Here dried salt is graded in Vibro Screens having selective size S.S. Sieve. These Gyratory motion sieves separate 2 grades of salt : Passing size goes for blending section & retainer is re circulated for further Size reduction & drying thru pin mill & Fluid Bed Dryer.

Step 7-Blending

Passing size product from vibro screens goes to packing section after getting mixed with Food Grade Anti caking Agent - Precipitated Silica ( E - 551 ) which is added to product by means of Dosing Screw Feeder. We Keep its proportion as per ISI specification. This addition is to keep salt away from moisture attack only.

Step 8-Packing

After all above stages , free flow iodized Salt is packed in different size of Pkg i.e. 1 kg, 500gm etc. through fully automatic FFS (Form Fill Seal) Packing Machines of reputed supplier M/s Bosch Ltd. These 1 kg or 500 gm Packets are filled in 25 kg or 50 kg HDPE bags & stacked in finished product Godown. Bulk packing is carried out in 50kg HDPE bags with inner liner. In 50kg packing, we pack both the grade salt i.e. Edible & Industrial. Industrial salt is used in so many fields i.e. Detergent, Dyes, Dyes Intermediates, Pigment, Ink, Textiles etc. In total process from crushing section to packaging section, salt is packed in hygienic condition, keeping away from human intervention.
